What is RIBtype?

RIBtype® is an interchangeable rubber stamp system of ribbed-back type for printing dates, codes, and other information that changes frequently.

Like a tongue and groove system, "ribs" on the back of the type interlock with ribs on a stamping device so you can create your own message and change them as needed. Perfect for lot numbers, part marking, date codes, etc.

RIBtype sets of letters and numbers are readily available in sizes from 1/16" to 2" character heights, and we can manufacture custom pieces of artwork, words/phrases, complex mats, and more. It makes RIBtype a versatile and economical solution to your printing needs.

RIBtype® rubber type is made of premium quality rubber or synthetic materials according to your requirements. Type is manufactured to a thickness of .210", +/- .003", the most exacting tolerances in the industry...guaranteed. This ensures uniform type thicknesses for the best impressions. The alignment of our type meets the same exacting tolerances. The "ribs" on RIBtype are symmetrical and perfectly match to the ribs on RIBtype® base sheets. This precision fit helps ensure that type seats uniformly and stays in place during printing. RIBtype is proudly made in the USA.

When changing messages are needed, RIBtype offers many options for solutions. To use RIBtype, it is mounted into a marking device. These marking devices range from traditional wooden hand stamps and heavy-duty self-inkers, to porous and non-porous conveyor-line coders and reciprocating coders.

RIBtype rubber stamps are most commonly made from natural rubber that has a red-orange printing face and gray ribs that set it apart from other brands whose ribbed type is often made of solid gray rubber. Although natural rubber is the best choice for a majority of stamping, In certain applications, there may be a better choice. Aggressive inks, harsh environments, marking on heated materials, and other factors may make a different material more suitable for your RIBtype needs.

The Story

When we began manufacturing ribbed rubber type in the 1960s, no one dreamed we would one day become the premier rubber type supplier in the United States, but fast forward 40-odd years and millions of pieces of type and that is exactly where we are. It's been an exciting and sometimes dizzying evolution that has seen us become the provider of precision ribbed rubber type to over 40 countries worldwide.

In the 1960s, Indiana Stamp began to manufacture ribbed rubber type in-house after finding that service from other manufacturers was slow and prices were high. As we perfected our processes and began receiving positive customer feedback, we recognized an opportunity for a supplier with fast service, high quality, and reasonable prices. To ensure our manufacturing process would yield only the best products, ISC invested in state-of-the-art equipment and the highest quality molds and it became standard procedure to check each and every order for precise alignment and thickness. In 1988, active marketing for the RIBtype product line began and in 1989, United RIBtype began operating as its own company.

The customer response was fantastic. RIBtype quickly became known for it's unparalleled quality, service, and precision thickness and alignment. Competitive companies could not match the quality and our share of the market quickly grew. United RIBtype is now the largest manufacturer of ribbed rubber type in the United States. All RIBtype products are proudly made in the USA at our facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We continue to focus on offering fast, expert service and precision quality products at competitive prices.
